The lovely company that designed Building Workshop's website have recently updated theirs.  

 

We came across Holy Cow! because they'd designed a website for the cool lighting company, Davey Lighting.

 

Andy and Sue at Holy Cow! have been really busy designing websites, brochures, identities and all sorts of things for companies all over the UK.  They have their office in an old cow shed too so we have lots in common!  

Their work is really friendly, colourful, inspirational and professional too.  Here are some of our favourite things that they've been working on recently:

A really simple and friendly brochure, for the heating company GAH, which explains all of the possible heating systems available...

  

They've done some work for a chartered surveyor.  We love the artwork and especially the embossed house design:

Inspirational Brooklyn Interiors

We love what this new company in Brooklyn, New York is doing.  The Brooklyn Home Company is a family-run cooperative of artists and builders who transform ordinary flats or houses in Brooklyn into beautiful, individual homes with real contemporary character.

Salford Museums

On the way north from the Cotswolds, we stopped in Salford - which is to the west of Manchester - and visited the Lowry and the Imperial War Museum North.  The collection of original Lowry paintings was wonderful to see, especially the paintings showing crowds of people outside factories, rushing to the football ground and congregating in the streets. 

 

 

  

Just over the bridge is the Imperial War Museum North.  It opened in 2002 and was designed by the Berlin based architect Daniel Libeskind.  The museum was really interesting with very original displays, such as an enormous room with filing cabinet-type drawers going all the way up to the ceiling.  Each drawer belonged to someone who was caught up in WW2 and had information about the person, some of their belongings and their involvement. 

 

We particularly liked the graphic design from WW2.  There were numerous posters giving messages to the population, everything from the well known Make do and mend, to the importance of eating your greens and how to dress.    

 

Cotswolds Barns

We have been in the Cotswolds measuring up some beautiful barns that are going to be recycled.  They're not big enough to be used for farming any more but are too special and full of character to be left to fall down.  We love this sort of challenge. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Big cow shed for healthy happy cows!

We have been designing a cow shed for a local farmer and are now putting together the planning application.  The shed will be adaptable with plenty of space for cows, feed and straw too.  The steel frame has been designed to maximise the number of bales that can be stored in the shed and will be built in time for harvest.

Modelling an old school hall

At Building Workshop we are developing an old school hall, putting big light and airy bedrooms upstairs and a rather smart sitting room downstairs.  We made this model to understand how the roof works and figure out how best to use the internal space.
