Traditional wooden garage and log shed

Please visit our website:

Building Workshop's Project 017  is nearly finished.  It is a traditional garage and log shed in the Angus Glens.  The slates and the cladding are on, all that is left to do is put up the gutters and drainpipes and paint the shed.  It is going to look very smart.

Architectural Heritage Society of Scotland day out

Please visit our website:

We were invited along to the Architectural Heritage Society of Scotland's Angus Chateaux tour at the weekend.  It was a really interesting day out.  We visited two old castles that are owned by local families and had a good look around - inside, outside and even from the rooftops!

Steel

Please visit our website:

Building Workshop's project 011 is on site and today the steel has been going up.  A local steel fabricator has prefabricated all of the parts in his workshop and all of the steel will go up in 2 days.  There is lots of cool machinery on site - the access to the front garden is very narrow so a special crane is being used, called an 'Octopussy'.  It is perfect for the job as it fits through narrow spaces and can hoist up the steel.

Trees

Please visit our website:

The woods are being chopped down just along the road from the Drawing Office, the machinery that is being used is incredible.  There is a sawmill just along the road where the wood is then cut, machined and dressed into all sorts of different sizes.

At Building Workshop we specify wood for lots of our projects - from smart cladding on a kitchen extension to a traditional wooden framed and timber clad garage.

PSYBT Awards Panel

Please visit our website:

We were invited to enter the Prince's Scottish Youth Business Trust (PSYBT) awards a few months ago.  We put together a big entry with lots of pictures, models, and information about what we have been up to for the past two years at the Drawing Office.  Today we went to the panel in Dundee, where we were asked lots of questions about Building Workshop and the future, and we are in the final two businesses!!  It's really exciting, and now we need to wait until September to find out who is the winner....
